Usually you will translate "wohnen" as "to live":
"Ich wohne in Frankfurt". = "I live at Frankfurt".
But in German we distinguish
"leben" from "wohnen" ("to live somewhere, in a house, sheltered place").
Heidegger indicates that
"bauen" in ancient times had had the same meaning.
Now will you be able to translate the following sentence?
Translating "wohnen" as "to live" it became tautological.
Mensch sein heißt: als Sterblicher auf der Erde sein, heißt: wohnen.
